Volkswagen SP2

SP2 is a sports car developed and manufactured by Volkswagen do Brasil between 1973 and 1976. At the time the Brazilian subsidiary had enough independence to introduce its own project, especially considering a car import ban from the 1970s. The name of the model derives from "Sao Paulo", but is also often referred to "Special Project", or sarcastically “Sem Potencia", which in Portuguese stands for "Without Power". SP2 featured air cooled 1.7-liter flat four generating 75PS which allowed it to make 0-100 km/h in 16 seconds. Around 11,000 examples were built, while only a fraction was exported.
