Ferrari FXX

Ferrari FXX was first previewed on 17 August 2005 during Pebble Beach week. The car was a limited edition prototype based on Ferrari Enzo, developed exclusively for the use in the FXX research program. A selected number of the most valued Ferrari clients were invited to participate and become the company's test drivers. The price to sign up, however, was around USD 1,9m making FXX the most expensive car in the world at the time. Notwithstanding, the price tag also covered a crew, training and other services provided by Ferrari (hopefully some fuel too). Also, the cars could only be used on track, either during special events organized by Ferrari or on FIA approved tracks (but not in competition). The highlights of the FXX included the 6,2 liter V12 engine offering 800 PS (increased capacity against the Enzo), new gearbox inspired by F1 and a special aero package that delivered 40% more downforce than the original model. FXX was also equipped with a sophisticated telemetry system that gathered data used to develop the car itself and the future Ferrari models. As a result of the FXX program the Evoluzione kit was developed.
